About Veins Telangectasia vascular lesions may be: • Congenital • Part of the aging process • Result of overexposure to the sun • Result of using oral contraceptives • Result of estrogen therapy Spider veins may be: • Caused by running • Result of pregnancy  Varicose veins may be: • Hormonal factors including puberty, pregnancy, menopause and use of birth control pills, estrogen or progesterone • Aging • Prolonged standing • Leg injury • Result of weight gain • Laser Vein Removal Before and After Protocol Before Treatment: • There should be no UV exposure for three weeks • Do not drink any caffeine drinks before your appointment. Caffeine increases your pain level and may cause nervousness. • Do not take aspirin for seven days before the treatment, unless medically necessary as it will increase the risk of bruising. • You may take Advil or Tylenol if you think you will be sensitive to the treatment. • Sign the procedure consent form. • The laser technician will cleanse the treatment site. • A prescription of topical anesthetic may be applied to the treatment area. After Treatment: • Do not stretch your skin in an effort to see what has been done. • Redness and/or mild swelling at the treatment site may occur. • If there are small scabs, they are important to your healing. • You may take Advil or Tylenol if you are uncomfortable. • Do no apply makeup, as it will disturb the treatment sites. • Do not use the sauna or hot tub for two weeks. • There should be no UV exposure for 3 weeks pre & post treatment. • Wash the treated area gently twice daily with mild soap and apply a recovery ointment three to six times daily to ensure the area is moist and supple. • Please call the Spa immediately if any concerns arise. |
